For your healing journey...
Odyssey Counseling Center is about helping you to navigate your journey. My passion is to connect with children, adolescents, and adults in authentic relationships. My treatment is integrative, draws on the power of several established theories, and focuses on the whole person. Notably, I'm trained in EMDR, CBT, play techniques, and sandtray therapy.
I treat children, adolescents, and adults who have depression, anxiety, anger problems, ADHD, autism spectrum disorder (as appropriate), disabilities, gifts/talents, academic and/or behavior problems in school, oppositional behaviors, sleep problems, separation problems, social interaction challenges, and more.
I am also a Christian counselor, and I do provide integration of faith and spirituality into the counseling process AS REQUESTED. But ALL faiths are welcome without any requirement to integrate religion or spirituality into your treatment. I do not discriminate based on race, ethnicity, religion, sexuality, or any other demographic. However, I am not a match for everyone, so let's consult and see if I am the counselor for you. If I'm not, I will do my best to help you find someone who is.
My background: I was born and raised in Michigan. I graduated from Western Michigan University in 1995 with Bachelor of Arts degrees in special education and French. I taught special education students in Sheboygan, WI for five years until I decided to take a leave to be at home with my children. In 2006, I began my unplanned homeschooling journey when it became apparent that the available schools could not meet our needs. I was able to use my talents and education to help other families who had neurodivergent children in their homeschools. In 2012, I started studying for my Masters of Science in mental health counseling through Capella University and graduated in June of 2018. I completed my internship at Valley Oaks Health (then, Wabash Valley Alliance) at the 610 Main Street branch in Lafayette. I went on to work there after graduation, growing a caseload of mostly children and adolescents. I left Valley Oaks in May of 2021 to work full time at Wellspring Counseling Center of Greater Lafayette where I had been seeing clients part-time since graduation. After Wellspring closed, I opened Odyssey Counseling Center in November 2021
*Please note that I do not work with any insurance plans. All sessions are paid out of pocket on the day of service.
